5 Benefits of Coffee You Probably Didn’t Know

Is there anything as satisfying as coffee?

Well, maybe extreme shopping or a new wine could be, but coffee has a ton of benefits that other things can’t give you.

Sitting back with a cold beer is what some enjoy, but if you’re looking for a beverage with extra health perks, coffee is one to consider. It’s packaged with many advantages that most drinks don’t include.

Some of those benefits are described below.

1. Coffee Can Burn Fat

A fat-burning drink is my kind of drink!

Not only is coffee natural, but it contains typically contains caffeine, and caffeine boosts the fat burning process in your body.

Studies have shown that coffee drinkers have higher metabolisms and because of this, you burn more fat at a quicker rate when you drink caffeinated joe.

Not sure where to start? Opt for a tasty French roast blend, which is dark, slightly sweet, and a bit smoky.

It has less caffeine than light roasts, yet it packs the perfect amount when you want the caffeine benefits minus the jitters.

2. It Can Lower Risk of Diabetes

In studies of people who regularly drink coffee, data revealed those who drink the most, have a  23-67% lower risk of developing Type 2 diabetes.

If you aren’t a heavy coffee drinker, there is still good news! Just one cup a day can reduce your risk for this disease by 7%.

Chinese researchers believe they have gotten to the bottom of why coffee reduces diabete risks. Specific proteins compile in a toxic accumulation in a diabetic patient. Coffee however, has three compounds that block this build-up.

Way to go COFFEE!

So drink up, coffee lovers!

3. Caffeine May Improve Your Physical Performance

Besides energizing your nervous system, coffee also empowers your adrenaline levels.

Increased epinephrine is a great way to kick-start your day, and the caffeine content steps into high gear as well! It causes fat cells to breakdown and release into the bloodstream as fatty acids. These fatty acids become energy for you to burn!

If you have energy stored and ready for use, your strength, endurance, and perseverance will all show improvements.

This is great news for all types of people. You may be the parent of a non-stop toddler or an every-evening CrossFit participant, but either way, coffee seems to be the drink of choice for those who wish for a higher level of physical ability…and yes, if you’ve never had a toddler, it DOES compare to CrossFit.

4. Coffee Can Fight Depression

In today’s society, depression affects countless amounts of people. It’s something that can show up in many forms and it’s infamous for sneaking up when you’re least expecting it.

If this worldwide problem can be helped by drinking coffee, we need to announce it to the masses!

However, I can’t seem to find a megaphone big enough to do that, so instead we share the news through articles such as this one.

Coffee really does have the ability to help you combat sadness, low self-esteem, and sleepiness, which can all lead to depression.

If you drink a cup daily, you’ll have more energy to exercise, and that will lead to higher levels of norepinephrine, serotonin, and dopamine. We all know those create the happy feelings everyone desires, and if you’re full of happy feelings, you can defeat depressio.

5. It May Lower the Risk of Stroke

Even though caffeine does raise blood pressure for some, data shows long-term coffee drinking levels it out. In addition to this, multiple studies have shown that those who drink coffee DO NOT have a higher risk of heart disease than those who choose to shy away from coffee.

Another plus for the coffee lover is a lower risk of stroke.

Aside from this information, always make sure to keep an ongoing check with your blood pressure if you have a history of higher levels. Health should always be a number one priority – even for those of us who want to place coffee first, it shall fall under health as a close 2nd.

In the End…

If you’re not someone who enjoys black coffee, there’s a plethora of options to add that will fine-tune it to suit your taste.

To create your unique choice of coffee, splashes of lavender, vanilla, caramel, and mint are just a few flavors that can be added along with cold foam, sweet milk, or simple cane sugar. Don’t forget, adding the occasional sweet or pastry can also make the coffee time a perfect time!

Overall, there aren’t many great-tasting beverages out there that can lower your risk of health problems and at the same time make you feel energized?

Coffee truly is one fantastic drink that has a lot to offer.
