When on the market looking to purchase a blanket, you may come in contact with various kinds. Some of which are a duvet and a weighted blanket, then the dilemma hits. Which do you choose? No worries.

In this article, you will understand the difference between what is a duvet and an organic weighted blanket. You will also see their benefits which can guide you in making the right choice in your purchase.

A duvet, sometimes called a comforter, is a padded quilt. The covering can be made with any fabric such as cotton, linen, bamboo, or silk then filled with fluffy, soft feathers or wool to give it a full, bouncy feel.

The question “what is a duvet?” may come up when you are faced with many options of the type of covering to purchase. Have in mind that the difference between it and a comforter is quite slight and the terms are used interchangeably.

Duvets have been around for a long time, unlike the organic weighted blanket which recently grew in repute. This means that duvets are more common and have much cheaper versions.

They also come in a variety of sizes, textures, and makes so you have a lot of options to choose from.

Duvets are also great for keeping warm at night and anyone can use them.

An organic weighted blanket is heavier than regular blankets. Unlike duvets that are stuffed with silk, feathers or other fluffy material, beads and other weightier materials are sewn into pockets in a weighted blanket. The purpose is to give the blanket extra-weight.

It is advised that an organic weighted blanket should be no more than ten percent of your body weight. However, some have found that using a slightly heavier or lighter blanket suits them best.

An organic weighted blanket works by making a person using it feel like they are held in an embrace. The extra weight also causes pressure that releases endorphins and serotonin in the body which are pleasure chemicals and sleep-enhancing chemicals respectively.

Weighted blankets are an excellent addition for those who have trouble sleeping. Not only do they provide warmth, they help insomniac and poor sleepers find better rest.

It also helps to prevent the release of the stress-inducing hormone, cortisol, causing the body to relax.

At this point, you may consider that both the organic weighted blanket and duvets have their merits so which should you go for? This comes down to your goals.

If your desire is only to have warmer nights, then a duvet is an easy option. However, if you have heard of the wonders of weighted blankets and you wish to try it out because you have restless nights, then of course, organic weighted blankets will help you sleep better.

The most significant difference between both is that a weighted blanket has medical benefits and a duvet those not.
